It’s Black History Month 2020

Black History Month 2020 is launching today (Thursday 1 October), with events throughout the month to celebrate the culture, history, achievements and contributions of black people

Jane West, Chief Operating Officer, said: “We have a great line-up of events to mark Black History Month, and I can’t tell you how proud I am that, despite the challenges of COVID-19, we have come together to make this happen here in Havering.

“As the Senior Leadership team’s Race at Work Charter Executive Sponsor and Chair of EDIC (Equality, Diversity, Inclusion & Cohesion), I know how important this month is to everyone and how hard colleagues have worked to provide the events and activities, our BAME Colleague Forum is leading on.

“I hope everyone will enjoy, celebrate, learn and be inspired by the many events, which include an interactive quiz, and some fantastic live events with special guest speakers covering topics such as Youth Empowerment, Mental Health and Community Building.”

We’re kicking off the celebrations with an interactive quiz today at 12pm. From sports to politics and popular culture. Test your knowledge and see how well you know your Black history.

All colleagues are invited to attend. Pre-registration is required.
